#icq is occasionally the
busiest
of the three channels, and is often close to as busy as #afp,
particularly in
the UK evenings. This is the most recent of the
three regular channels
and was created by a group of afpers who used to
meet regularly for ICQ chats,
but got fed up of constant cries of
"how many people can you see?",
"6", "7",
"6", "5" etc. Since a few of
the group were also
regulars or infrequent visitors to #afp, the group
congregated on the
lspace IRC server and set up its own channel.
#icq is completely
different in atmosphere to #afp or #drum. Many of the
regulars are
considerably younger than on the other channels, and there is a
lower
level of geekdom. It is here that you will tend to find virtual parties,
sacrifices to Cthulhu, and general lunacy. There is often a virtual bar
operating, and you may be offered strange virtual potables. The in-jokes
here
tend to centre around catchphrases and invented words (*starkisses*
springs
to mind)
The channel tends to be extremely bouncy and very
friendly and is the only
place on lspace IRC where colours, sounds and
pop-ups are permitted. IRCisms
creep in here from time to time too.
The
approach here is egalitarian and all of the regulars tend to be opped.
From time to time kickfests erupt but this is a rare occurence.
Some of the regulars have a webcam, all put on the lspace/#icq webcam
